Live DVD to be released soon
MARCH 2007
On March 21st, Sator’s live DVD “Live at Sticky Fingers” will be released. It was recorded in Gothenburg on December 16th, so the waiting has actually been really short this time, just over three months! It’s the complete show, nothing was taken off.
The show was long and with many surprises. All in all, the DVD has 24 tracks (22 songs + 1 intro from the show, and 1 song from the soundcheck)
Here is the tracklist, along with comments.
1 WAR MUSIC (Kiesbye)
This is an instrumental intro played before we hit the stage.
This was actually written some years back for a video game that never happened. I thought it would be fun to use it as an intro for this show since we would never get the permission to include any of our usual intros on a DVD.

2 SO DRESSED UP (Kiesbye/Norberg)
From “Basement Noise”. This song has become a live favourite in no time.
It was originally done for an obscure German compilation album but we liked it too much so we re-recorded it for ‘Basement Noise’. A great set opener that shows straight away what Sator is all about.

3 NO REASON (Kiesbye/Norberg/Olsson/Gäfvert)
Classic song from “Stock Rocker Nuts”. Always in the live set, since forever. Usually the only one from SRN the latest years, but not tonight (see track 14).
We dropped most of the songs from Stock Rocker Nuts ’cause we did so many shows on that album that we got sick of the songs. Only ‘No Reason’ stayed in the set. It was gone for a short while but we took it back again.
Hans
4 ANGELINA AND SISTER RAY (Kiesbye/Norberg)
From “Basement Noise”.
One of my favourite songs of the new ones.
Heikki
5 FIND THE TIME (Kiesbye/Norberg)
This is a very rare song, taken from the Japanese 7″ single “I’m Gone”. Performed live for the very first time!
Yes this is the first time we’ve ever played it live. I don’t know why. It’s great song that we just forgot about.
Michael
6 JETSLIDE (Kiesbye/Norberg)
From “Stereo”. No show without this fast rocker!
Another of those songs that shows up in the set almost every night. Our Motörhead tribute.
Chips
7 KISS OF THE RAT (Highland)
From “Barbie-Q-Killers vol. 1”. Originally by Gizmos. Performed live for the very first time!
We might have played it some night just when ‘Barbie-Q-Killers’ was released but I’m not sure. We promised some guys from the south of Sweden after the show in Köping that we would play it one day. So to keep our promise we did. It might show up again.
Kent
8 I WANNA GO HOME (Kiesbye/Norberg)
Taken from “Headquake”.
One of our few songs that you could actually categorise as a ‘hit’ so we can’t take this one off the list. Luckily we still love to play it.
Michael
9 YOU’RE OUT OF MY HANDS (Kiesbye/Norberg)
From “Basement Noise”.
For some reason it’s one of the hardest songs to play. Some nights it works fine others it just don’t. This song’s got a will of it’s own.
Chips
10 GOODBYE JOEY (Kiesbye/Norberg)
From “Basement Noise”.
This is as close as Sator will ever get to a power ballad. A tribute to The Ramones of course.
Heikki
11 YOU AIN’T NOTHING TO ME (Kiesbye/Norberg)
From “Basement Noise”.
Another of those punk songs that we can throw in when we wanna bring up the tempo. Always fun to play.
Kent
12 DANCE TO THE ROCKET FROM THE CRYPT (Kiesbye/Norberg)
This is also a rare appearance. Taken from the “Droppin’ out!” EP, the band had never thought that this song would be performed live. But then one day, someone said “why not?” and this is what happened.
This was definitively the first time we did this one. We didn’t think we could do it without the horns but Hasse sampled them and it works just fine. I’m sure we will do this one again.
Chips
13 GHOST OF MY CONTROL (Kiesbye/Norberg)
From “Basement Noise”.
Another of the new songs that works great live. That’s what I like most about the ‘Basement Noise’ album. All the songs works live. That has not been the case before.
Michael
14 AIN’T SEEN NOTHING (Kiesbye/Norberg/Olsson/Gäfvert)
Taken from “Stock Rocker Nuts”, this song was performed live a lot around 90-91. Luckily, it’s been dug up again!
This was a welcome return. I happened to see a TV show with Sator from 1990 when we did it. We always thought it needed two guitars and now we have that. We’ll probably keep it for a while.
Chips
15 ESCAPE FROM PIGVALLEY BEACH (Kiesbye/Norberg)
From “Basement Noise”.
This has sort of replaced the old ‘Pigvalley’. It’s half as long and more fun for us to play. We will still do the old one now and then.
Heikki
16 I’D RATHER DRINK THAN TALK (Kiesbye/Norberg)
Taken from “Headquake”.
The set wouldn’t feel complete without ‘Drink’. It never gets boring ’cause it’s different very night. It could be anything from 2 minutes to 10 minutes depending on the mood and circumstances. Anything can happen here. Sometimes we even switch instruments. Not always a good idea.
Hans
17 THIS AIN’T THE WAY HOME (Kiesbye/Norberg)
From “Basement Noise”.
A new one that already feels like an ‘oldie’. It always get a good reaction from the crowd.
Kent
18 SLUG IT OUT (Kiesbye/Norberg)
Taken from “Headquake”.
They can’t take this one out. I’d refuse! This is my harmonica solo!
Hans
It was gone for a while but now it’s back among the possible encores. I love the duelling guitar/harmonica solos.
Chips
19 I’LL WAIT (Almaas)
From “Barbie-Q-Killers vol. 1”. Originally by The Suicide Commandos. This song was performed live at Hultsfredfestivalen 1994 but not many other times.
I don’t know why we stopped playing this one. Maybe we had too many songs. It feels great now.
Kent
20 NO PLACE TO LAND (Kiesbye/Norberg)
Taken from “Stereo”
This is one has been with us for a long time but we don’t play it as often anymore. Some songs just has to go when you want to bring in new ones. It has gone from set opener the ‘the bench’. We still do it as an encore sometimes.
Michael
21 THIS IS MY LIFE
This a Gasolin cover, taken from a tribute album called “Fi-Fi Dong” released in 1995. Sator played the song on the Stereo tour.
Another dropped song that returned for for a while. Before the last three shows we haven’t play it for almost 10 years. It’s great to have so many songs to choose from so every night can be different.
Chips
22 PIGVALLEY BEACH (Kiesbye/Norberg/Olsson/Gäfvert)/LET’S DANCE
Taken from “Slammer!”. “No reason” might have been played since forever, but this song has been played even longer. A part of pretty much every Sator show since 1988. And just to make it a little funnier, a bit of “Let’s dance” is thrown in at the end.
We have finally moved ‘Pigvalley Beach’ out of the setlist. It’s probably the most played song of ours. We will still do it some shows but not every night anymore.
Kent
23 RING RING (ABBA)
Taken from an ABBA tribute album released in 1993. Performed live by Sator on most shows since then.
We have more or less dropped it and it was not meant to be played this night but Chips started it up without telling anyone so we did it anyway. A very unrehearsed version.
Kent
Yes maybe it was a mistake but I had so much fun so I wanted to do one more song before the disco started. We could have played ‘Black ‘n’ white’ or something instead but this was the only song that popped up in my head so I went for it.
Chips
24 GET OUT OF MY WAY (John Hodgson)
Here’s a bonus song, recorded at the soundcheck. “Get out of my way” was written by a band called Blitzkrieg Bop and it’s been a part of Sator’s live set since 2000. It will be released on “Barbie-Q-Killers vol. 2”.
We have played this for a couple of years but when we released ‘Basement noise’ we took it off the setlist ’cause we have so many new songs we wanna do. We will bring it back when ‘BBQ2’ is released. Everyone in the band loves it!
Chips
Below are some of the songs that people keep asking for that didn’t show up this night.
I’M GONE
WE’RE RIGHT YOU’RE WRONG
NO TIME, TOMORROW
BLACK ‘N’ WHITE
TURN OFF THE NEWS
WORLD
A SAFETYBELT FOR SUZIE
LOVE MF
TIME AND DISTANCE
When one of us get tired of a song we retire them even if people shout for them. We have to do like that to keep the spirit. Some of them will surely show up again. You’ll never know.
Chips
There are also a whole bunch of songs that has never been played live. Sator have probably recorded over 150 songs.
